Nurses' Clinical Competence as a Predictor of Patient Safety Target Compliance in Surgical Procedures
Abstract
Background: The implementation of patient safety goals in hospitals, including in operating rooms, is inseparable from the competence of nurses. High competence can also develop the care process to improve the quality of nursing and patient safety. Objective to gain a deeper understanding of the relationship between the clinical competences of nurses in the Operating Room in an effort to improve patient safety goals. Methods: this research method was cross-sectional with data collection in 7 private hospitals in the city of Ambon with a sample size of 66 surgical nurses. Results: There was a significant relationship between the clinical competence of surgical nurses and safety goals: surgical procedures. Conclusions: Clinical nurse competence is a critical component of positive patient safety because it helps ensure that nurses can provide safe and effective care to patients and encourages active involvement and participation in patient safety goals.
